Research and Development

 

Our artificial turf systems are the result of years of study at MONDO's research laboratories in collaboration with the Institute for Biomechanics of Valencia (IBV), the Laboratory of Ergonomics and Biomechanics of the University of Pavia and professional European football teams.

PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS ON NATURAL AND ARTIFICIAL TURF

MONDO's research departments have studied the characteristics of natural grass in collaboration with laboratories and football clubs.
Simulations were carried out with instruments and players in real match situations. Player surface and ball surface interactions were analysed.
The tests focused on the values for shock absorption, deformation and energy return, as well as the frequency level of vibrations which can adversely affect the athlete's comfort and stability.
The research conducted has made it possible to create a new and completely innovative artificial turf system that reproduces all the positive characteristics of a natural grass pitch in optimal conditions.

MONDOTURF FTS3 SYSTEM: MONOFIBRE 4NX, ELASTIC UNDERLAYMENT FINE TUNED SYSTEM® WITH ECOFILL® INFILL

Thanks to the synergy of the Fine Tuned elastic underlayment, the 4NX fiber and the ECOFILL performance infill characteristics, the MONDO FTS3 system offers extraordinary biomechanical properties which enables it to maintain itself regardless of the pitch's use and the passage of time. It also meets the most demanding biomechanical requirements and exceeds the parameters set by European legislation and the FIFA Quality Concept manual.

ELASTIC UNDERLAYMENT FINE TUNED SYSTEM®

Prefabricated, homogeneous, smooth and regular elastic subsurface.
It is comprised of rubber granules encapsulated with polyurethane resin and covered with two layers of non-woven fabric.
It improves the biomechanical characteristics essential for the safety and performance of players.

ECOFILL® PERFORMANCE INFILL

Thermoplastic rubber based granules, designed and developed specifically for sport applications.
Its main characteristics are:

  • Controlled compaction.
  • Controlled elasticity.
  • Ecological.

MONOFIBRE 4NX

In 2010, MONDO's research laboratories, in collaboration with the Institute of Biomechanics of Valencia and the Technological Institute of Aragon, have conducted comparative analyses of 11 different types of artificial turf and developed a new fiber concept, a monofilament with an innovative chemical composition and semi-concave section with triple asymmetric spines: Mondoturf 3NX.

In 2013, Mondo has developed the new innovative fiber 4NX.

A monofilament with exceptional characteristics, an improved semi-concave structure with three asymmetric spines and 400 µm thickness, providing the optimum blend of elastic return, energy storage and tear resistance.
